Carriden is a parish on the coast of Linlithgowshire. It is bounded on the north by the Firth of Forth, and on other sides by the parishes of Borrowstownness, Linlithgow, and Abercorn. (1867: The Imperial Gazetteer of Scotland, by John Marius Wilson).

Prior to the Reformation the church belonged to the Abbey of Holyrood. A new church was built on a new site, and dedicated 19 September 1909.
