Boundary: Landward districts were created as a result of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1929. They were formed by grouping parishes outside of Burghs (areas known as Landward) into districts with elected councils.

Boundary: Region and district designations as a result of the 1973 Local Government (Scotland) Act, with OPR parishes that fell into each district. The changes took effect on 15 May 1975, and were in place until 1996.
Date: Changes made as a result of the Local Government (Scotland) Act, 1889. Changes went into effect on 15 May 1891.
Summary: Considerable internal alterations. Parishes straddling boundary with Fife: Abernethy and Arngask to Perthshire; Culross and Tulliallan to Fife. Parishes straddling boundary with Forfarshire: Alyth, Coupar-Angus, and Kettins to Perthshire; Liff, Fowlis Easter and detached portions of Caputh to Forfarshire. Parishes straddling boundary with Kinross-shire: Arngask and Forgandenny to Perthshire, Fossaway and Tullibole to Kinross shire. Parishes straddling border with Stirlingshire: Lecropt to Perthshire; Kippen, Logie and part of Alloa to Stirlingshire.

Details:
Orders made by the Boundary Commissioners for Scotland under Section 49 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act, 1889. Orders shall come into operation for the purposes of School Board elections on the 1st day of February 1891, and for all other purposes on the 15th day of May 1891.

Parish of Abernethy, counties of Perth and Fife
The parish of Abernethy was situated partly in the county of Fife and partly in the county of Perth. The division of the parish between these two counties was correctly shown on the Ordnance Survey maps, with this exception, that the lands of Easter Colzie, in the south-east corner of the parish, should have been shown as part of the county of Fife. The whole of the parish, except the lands of Easter Colzie, Nochnarrie, and Pitlour, were transferred to the county of Perth.

The parish of Lecropt was situated partly in the county of Perth and partly in the county of Stirling. That part of the parish which lay to the east of the west boundary of the Scottish Central Railway line was transferred to the parish of Logie. At the same time a small part of the parish of Logie which lay to the west of the west boundary of that railway, and on the right bank of the Allan Water, was transferred to the parish of Lecropt. Then the parish of Lecropt, as thus altered in area, was placed wholly in the county of Perth.
